Package Selection:
Think Big: Work with one of our sales counselors to assist you selecting the packages that are best for your non-profit. Don’t underestimate your audience when selecting items, they will spend more than you think.
Include Donors in the selection process:
Because we can provide items to you well ahead of your event, ask your donors and supporters what trips they would like to take. Some non-profits even let their donors select the exact packages they will offer to insure strong bidding and donor satisfaction.
Promote Early and Often:
Since you will be able to choose your items well ahead of the event, you have the opportunity to let your supporters know what items are in your auction in advance. Use all available marketing avenues to get the word out ahead of time so that your supporters are prepared to bid and bid big!
Set Reserves:
In a live auction setting for each of the Winspire items you use, we recommend you set and print a reserve price at the bottom of the provided text for that item. This will protect you in case of low bidding. First, determine the minimum amount you are comfortable with the item being sold for above your cost (we recommend a minimum of 20% margin). Once you have determined that minimum include a statement at the bottom of the text stating: This item has a reserve price of ________. It must be sold for at least _______.
Second, start your bidding at ½ to 2/3 of your reserve. This will provide bidding momentum and allows the best opportunity for you to receive maximum revenue from the bidders. By starting the bidding lower, more bidders will be involved. By more bidders being involved this will result in a higher sales price. In case bidding does not reach your reserve price, your auctioneer simply states that the item must sell for at least the minimum as stated in the text and moves on if no one is willing to pay that price (this is rare but you should be prepared and protect yourself, just in case).
Sell Items Multiple Times:
Remember that all items we provide can be sold multiple times. If two or three bidders are locked in a bidding war, stop the bidding and sell it multiple times to your bidders when you see bidding start to slow down. You will make exponentially more money and will have more donors go home satisfied with the item they want.
Use Visuals:
Each of our No Risk Items comes with a jpg or PDF, use this opportunity to paint a picture of the item to your bidders. The more real you can make the item, the more money you will make.
Provide a certificate to the winning bidder(s):
Because these items are no risk and aren’t ordered until after the event, we recommend you prepare a certificate for the winning bidder(s) congratulating them on the purchase of their auction item. On that certificate, let them know they will be receiving their certificates within 30-45 days (we can provide a sample). Also include a copy of the full text of the item they won so they can refer to it until their certificates arrive.
A Note of Thanks:
Once we have received payment from you and all of your certificates are in. We will prepare your winning bidders packets and send them to you. Before you distribute these to the winning bidders take the opportunity to include a note of thanks for their participation in the auction.
Last Minute Items Needed:
Don’t forget about us the week of the event. On occasion, procurement can fall short. We can provide auction items to you on a moments notice. Make a note to contact us week of to pick up any additional items for last minute needs.
Need Airfare!:
Remember, we can provide airfare to couple with donated condos or hotels you may have procured. Statistics show that travel packages that are complete net more revenue at events.
Many Other Uses:
Our No Risk Auction Items can be used for many other uses including, raffles, opportunity drawings, awards, recognition, hole in one prizes. Let your imagination flow.
