Garces Silva / Amayna Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Matias Garcés Silva launched Amayna with his family's support with their first vintage in 2003. However, the project had its origins in the late 90’s when the Garcés Silva family recognized the incredible, overlooked potential of Chile’s San Antonio coast for premium viticulture. After building a pipeline from the Maipo River to this region to bring water for vine irrigation, the Leyda Valley officially entered the world of fine Chilean wine. The word "amayna" in Chile loosely translates to "the calm after the storm" – that ominous yet peaceful feeling that you only experience around the ocean. Their gravity-fed winery and vineyards sit with an unobstructed view just 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

Sauvignon Blanc has become the most planted white in Chile and yields remarkable quality given its cool Pacific Coast. In this expression from the San Antonio Valley, often referred to as the “Russian River Valley” of Chile, the ocean breezes bring a savory saline balance to the wine’s intense fruit character with an expression of tropical fruits, citrus, and gingery notes. In the mouth it shows a balanced acidity, viscosity and long complex finish.

Aquitania / Lazuli Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

In the early 1990’s, Bordeaux luminaries Bruno Prats (Chateau Cos d'Estournel) and Paul Pontallier (Chateau Margaux) discovered the high caliber of Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile’s Alto Maipo region. They partnered with their colleague Felipe de Solminihac, a renowned Chilean agronomist, oenologist and winemaker in the region. They acquired 45 acres in the 'Quebrada de Macul', historically the heart of the Maipo Valley vineyards, and Viña Aquitania was born. In January 2003, Ghislain de Montgolfier (CEO of Bollinger Champagne), became the fourth partner.

Named after the precious gemstone ‘Lapis Lazuli’, this wine is only made during the best vintage and has impressive character that only gets better with age. The Cabernet grapes are harvested from the section of the vineyard that surrounds the winery in the coveted ‘High Maipo’ valley in the Andean Piedmont just outside the capital of Santiago and has the unique typicity that has made this region a ‘benchmark’ in Cabernet worldwide like in Rutherford or Bordeaux. This wine is aged for 16 months in new French oak, then aged in bottle until the winemaking partners agree it is ready for release. It is full of expressive black fruits like cassis, black cherry and plum and exudes precise acidity, balance, ripe and soft tannins, and floral and spicy notes. It’s so elegant.

Casarena / Areyna Torrontes 2020

The name “Casarena” is a creative merging of the Spanish words “casa” (house) and “arena” (sand), and is a tribute to their restored 1930s winery made of sand-colored stone and the sandy soil that their estate is built on in the Lujan de Cuyo region of Mendoza—a place full of rich tradition, potential, and unique microterroirs. Casarena is forging a different path from the other wineries in Argentina by discovering the hidden vineyard to maximize the flavor expression of these terroirs.

Torrontes is a fresh and aromatic white wine native to the remote northern region of Salta and the Valle de Cafayate. The pergola style vineyard is located in Cafayate with a semi-arid, high altitude climate and soil that is predominantly alluvial with deep sandy texture. An aromatic wine with an elegant tension and beautiful citrus and floral notes, it has tongue-dazzling acidity and showcases a modern, fresh and unique style of Torrontés.

Mendel / Finca Remota Malbec 2018

Mendel wines classically combine Roberto de la Mota’s prestigious winemaking skills and tremendously old vineyards to make some of Mendoza’s most elegant reference wines. Proprietor and long-time wine lover, Anabelle Sielecki, partnered with Roberto to transform her family’s historic 1928 vineyard into the respected estate it is today. She honors her father, a hardworking immigrant and successful businessman, by putting his first name, Mendel, on the label. Using his French winemaking experience, Roberto has led Argentina’s winemaking movement toward world-class production. The finesse and elegance in his wines are revered and respected.

From 70+ year-old vineyards at the ‘Faraway Ranch’ in Altamira in the southern Uco Valley of Mendoza, this high altitude Malbec is dense and full-bodied with thick tannins. It’s powerful yet graceful and can be consumed as a ‘wild youth’ or aged for many years to come. Aged 12 months in 100% oak barrels, it is dark as night and has enticing violet aromas (a typical expression from this Uco terroir). The Malbec’s intense red and black fruit flavors are underlined with by firm but supple tannins and is an absolute beauty.
