Nyamatusi Safari Camp
Spend your 3-night stay at Nyamatusi exploring Mana Pools by foot, vehicle, and water. Mana Pools, one of Zimbabwe’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is an incredible park teeming with wildlife and offering a plethora of activities. The lodge is set in one of the wildest and most remote parts of Africa, on the banks of the Zambezi River, one of the world’s oldest. You’ll experience your first game drive on the way to the lodge. You’ll have the chance to spot elephants, buffalo, baboons, and perhaps the Nyamatusi pride of lions!
During the remainder of your two full days at Nyamatusi, spend your time however you please (your guide will work with you to make a schedule on arrival). In addition to classic game drives, Mana Pools is famous for its walking safaris. Get out of the vehicle and walk (with your armed guide) through the bush, relishing the opportunity to get up close to animals on foot. For those interested in a unique safari experience, you will have the chance to canoe down the Zambezi River. As you silently glide down through the water with your expert guide, take in the breathtaking flora and fauna around you, including impressive bird life, and even some larger animals, such as elephants and hippos. Fishing for bream and tiger fish is also available, from the banks of the Zambezi.
In addition to your time spent on activities, you have the option to simply relax and enjoy your beautiful safari camp. Nyamatusi is spacious and thoughtfully designed. Within main camp, you’ll find multiple lounging areas, a swimming pool, a bar, a fire pit, and a gift shop. Your room has a private mini plunge pool, indoor & outdoor showers, lounge space, 24-hour power, and an air cooler over the bed. The entire camp overlooks the Zambezi, with hippos always snorting, and it’s not uncommon to find elephants right in camp (hence, our policy of driving guests to their rooms)! You do not have to go far to have an amazing game viewing at Nyamatusi.
Bumi Hills Safari Lodge
On a plateau, overlooking Lake Kariba, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge will welcome you with its rolling hills, pale green grass, and sweeping vistas for the next 3-nights. Upon your arrival, after your 30-minute flight from Mana Pools, you will be met at the airstrip by your guide who will whisk you a mere 10 minutes to the lodge. On the first night, you will indulge in a sunset cruise on the lake as you take in the colorful sky.
During your next two full days at Bumi Hills, there are several activities to enjoy. Set off on another boating excursion, exploring the islands and shorelines of this beautiful area. From the boat, you have the chance to see elephants, hippos, crocs, antelope, and birdlife. For fishing enthusiasts, Bumi is the place to be, as you can try your hand at bream or tiger fishing while taking in the sights and sounds of Lake Kariba. Kariba is the largest man-made lake in the world and has a very interesting history, which your guide will knowingly share with you as you explore the region together. For those interested in exploring by land, game drives and nature walks are on offer. The landscape is so different from Mana Pools – rolling hills, pale green grass, red soil shorelines, and sweeping vistas – you will feel completely transported during every step of your journey. We suggest a visit to the Bumi Hills Anti-Poaching Unit, which works tirelessly to protect the land and animals of this area. This organization does an amazing job of keeping wildlife safe and free, though their job is anything but easy. Learning their story only increases your appreciation for this incredible park.
Within the lodge, you have many facilities to enjoy. With a gym, spa, games room, swimming pool, and numerous lounge spaces, you will feel right at home. Your room offers A/C, 24-hour power, indoor & outdoor shower, and overlooks the Lake.
