Arrival Day

Arrive in Finland and get settled into your accommodations at the resort.

Day 1

Experience the arctic wilderness and culture with a reindeer sleigh. Your guide will pick you up that morning and provide thermal outfits at the farm. After a photo opportunity with the reindeer, it’s time to comfortably sit in the sled under warm blankets and head into the wilderness. The pace is calm, so you can relax, breathe in the fresh air and listen to the soundscape of the arctic wilderness.  After the ride, enjoy coffee and a Finnish treat in a “Kota” a traditional reindeer herders home!

Prepare for a change of pace that afternoon. A thrilling ride in the arctic forest awaits you. The best way to see Lapland’s fallen landscape is by taking off in a snowmobile. Thermal outfits and instructions will be provided. The snowmobile is for 2 with one person driving and the other sitting in the back. You can swap drivers halfway if you like!

Day 2

Two exciting tours await you today! A quick husky sled tour right after breakfast and a relaxed Aurora Safari in a horse sleigh at night. Your guide will pick you up that morning, provide you with the winter gear you need, and then it’s off to meet the friendly dogs eagerly waiting in front of the sleds. Your guide will instruct you how to stop, turn and drive the sled. The sled is for 2 people. One person is seated in the sleigh and the other is standing and driving. You can swap drivers halfway through.

Until that evening, you have free time to explore the Kakslauttanen Arctic resort. Then another highlight rounds out your Lapland adventure. You will be provided with winter attire at the horse stables. Two solid and noble Finnhorses pull a wooden sleigh into the magical, peaceful wintery forest. During the ride, you will stop to observe the North Lights if they decide to show themselves! During the break, enjoy hot juice and learn about the culture and nature of Lapland.

Day 3

Meet Santa at his house. A childhood dream come true! Deep in the heart of the forest, Santa’s realm opens up for you. Visit Santa and be surprised by what awaits you in his house. You be picked up in the East Village of Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort and driven to Santa’s private home. V

Visiting Santa is only possible on certain days of the week. Depending on your travel dates. Therefore, the day of your visit to Santa will be determined when you book.

Day 4

A full-day excursion awaits you in a snowmobile sleigh to the frozen Lake Inari. Enjoy some ice-fishing. You will enjoy a soup lunch prepared over an open fire, explore the area, and learn more about the Sami people at a local museum.  A full-filled day that gives you a broader perspective of life in Lapland.

Day 5

After a long day of excursions yesterday, today is paced a little slower. Spend the day at your leisure before you go on one last adventure in the evening.  Enjoy the panoramic view from a snowmobile while you chase after the North Lights. A snowmobile is a great way to experience the beauty of Lapland’s snowy fells and forest. You’ll be able to choose if you want to drive your own snowmobile or if you want to share one and swap halfway through!  There will be photo opportunities during the trip, and you will able to stop and experience the arctic wilderness. A hot drink and treat will be served during the Aurora Hunt.

Additional Information: The winter temperatures can vary between 0°C and -40°C (on average it’s -14°C), but the cold is not biting because the air is dry.

In the winter, the most important thing is to dress in layers: First, you need good thermal long underwear, then another layer of something warm like wool or fleece. On top, you will need suitable garments, preferably water and windproof. The most important thing to remember is that you should be covered from head to toe. Rental outwear is available at the hotel.

Please note that outdoor activities are dependent on weather conditions.
